Rock and roll is eternal because it is simple; there is nothing extra in it. Its rhythm penetrates all obstacles. I read a book by Elridge Cleaver - he writes about how Negroes helped their white man to find himself, to realize his body. Their music penetrated us forever. Already at the age of fifteen, for me, nothing but rock'n'roll did not exist in this life. Its strength is in some particular realism. The astonishing naturalness of rock is impressive at the very first acquaintance with it. In a word, this is pure art. - John Lennon
